In the Quranic tradition, we know that tithing is but a spiritual reflection of the law of reciprocal nourishment:

The men who give in charity, and the women who give in charity, and have lent to God a goodly loan — it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward. (Qur'an 57:18)
